Introduction
This guide assists Lynx-HCF software users in understanding the roles and differences between Wi-Fi (LAN) and Internet (WAN) connectivity in mobile health clinics, whether vehicle-based or fixed units.
- LAN (Local Area Network): Connects devices within a limited area, typically via Ethernet or Wi-Fi.
- WAN (Wide Area Network): Connects devices across multiple locations globally.
Wi-Fi connectivity is crucial for on-site operations and screening functions, while Internet connectivity is essential for creating patient records and syncing data to the cloud.
Wi-Fi Connectivity (LAN)
Importance
- Data Transfer: Enables data transfer between tablets and modality worklist for X-ray participant details.
- Backup Logs: Facilitates backup logs on the modality computer.
- Screening Process: Required for all screening processes, even without internet connection.
Ensuring Wi-Fi Connection
- Keep Tablets in Range: Ensure tablets are within Wi-Fi range and connected to the correct local API. A red banner indicates no connection.
- Troubleshooting:
- Check if the Wi-Fi router is powered on and functioning (signal lights visible).
- Contact HCF support if issues persist.
Wi-Fi Range Notification
- A red banner warns if a tablet is not connected to the correct Wi-Fi, out of range, or if the router is off.
Data Management
- Tablets Only: Participant details should be captured or modified only on tablets. Direct participants to the data capturer for corrections.
Internet Connectivity (WAN)
Importance
- Electronic Medical Records (EMR): Creates participant/patient cloud EMRs.
- Data Sync: Syncs participant details, X-rays, and results to the cloud for case management and reporting.
Internet Connectivity Tiers
-
Daily Monitoring:
- Check "Outstanding Sync" on tablets.
- Monitor Qure "Pendings" and Orca "Not Found" in the Lynx-HCF Client Management List.
- Run ORCA Sync on startup and ensure "JdicomCC - Status" is error-free.
-
Level 1 - Little Action Needed:
- Discuss dual SIM options with HCF support.
- Leave the modality computer on for automatic connectivity.
-
Level 2 - Monitoring Required:
- Consider satellite service options with HCF support.
- For fixed units, transfer data manually from a stable internet access point.
- For mobile units, drive to an area with stable internet for syncing.
-
Level 3 - Intervention:
- Follow Level 2 actions if data is not syncing.
Data Quality and Participant Information
- Modality Restrictions: Do not capture or modify participant details on the modality to avoid mismatches.
- Tablet Management: Ensure all changes are made on tablets and referred back to data capturers if needed.
- Daily Monitoring: Regularly check "Outstanding Sync," Qure "Pendings," and Orca "Not Found" on tablets. Avoid clearing data or deleting the Lynx-HCF App without support instructions.
